"This was going to be Raiders wide receiver Ronald Curry's career year. Leading the team in receptions the past two years didn't satisfy Curry. He could do better. For once, he had the time to strengthen his body instead of having to rehabilitate it on the heels of yet another injury. So it was that Curry added muscle to his frame, boosting his confidence and prompting praise from then-coach Lane Kiffin. Halfway through the season, Curry is out of the starting lineup and counting the days until he gets a shot with a team other than the only one he has known during his seven-year NFL career. "Wide receiver Ronald Curry is the third-ranking veteran on the Raiders' roster. He suspects there will be a new No. 3 on next year's seniority list. Curry spoke about his future with the team Wednesday for the first time since he was benched two weeks ago for rookie Chaz Schilens, a seventh-round draft pick. "Ronald Curry was a starting wide receiver before being benched two weeks ago when the Raiders played the New York Jets. Now he's joking with teammates about making tackles on special teams. Curry said the team "gave up" on him when he was benched in favor of rookie Chaz Schilens. Since then, Curry has played sparingly after his best asset - his hands - failed him and he dropped passes early in the season. "Right now we made one change, it was me," Curry said.
