Grizzlies Trade Rumors

Grizzlies expected to add wing to roster
"Looking to add maturity and defensive intensity on the wing, the Grizzlies are expected to sign free agent Quinton Ross today, increasing their roster to 14 players with training camp set to begin Tuesday. Ross, 27, was among the many Griz participants during an informal workout/pick-up game Thursday in FedExForum. The 6-6, 193-pound swingman will sign a minimum, non-guaranteed deal. He must first earn a roster spot and then avoid being cut by several key dates to remain for the rest of the season. Griz general manager Chris Wallace said adding Ross is a win-win deal for both sides. Ross gets an opportunity after the Los Angeles Clippers opted not to re-sign him. And the Griz get an ..."
Griz set to add free agent Ross
"Looking to add maturity and defensive intensity on the wing, the Grizzlies will soon sign free agent Quinton Ross. The 6-6, 193-pound swingman is expected to officially ink a minimum, non-guaranteed deal Friday. The Grizzlies open training camp Tuesday on their FedExForum practice court. Ross, 27, played the past four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. He dangled in free agency after the Clippers opted for more offense by acquiring Ricky Davis. The Griz, though, aren't interested in Ross being an explosive scorer. Ross is being brought in because of his strong perimeter defense. He's effectively guarded the opponent's best shooting guard or small forward throughout a career in which ..."
Knicks can't unload Randolph
"For the second time in this offseason, trade discussions involving Zach Randolph have failed to come to fruition. Knicks president Donnie Walsh was most recently engaged in talks with the Memphis Grizzlies, but multiple sources told Newsday that the Grizzlies have since reconsidered and decided to pass on Randolph. Walsh is still looking to find ways to shed Randolph's hefty contract, which has three years and $48 million left on it, but for now it appears that the 6-9 forward likely will remain a Knick when training camp opens in 11 days. Last month, Walsh and Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace discussed a deal that would have sent Randolph to Memphis in exchange for center Darko ..."
Darko Sees Deal To Knicks
"Darko Milicic was quoted in a Serbian newspaper as saying he believes it's "99 percent" sure he'll become a Knick by the end of this week. The Grizzles and Knicks have had month-long talks in which Zach Randolph would be part of a deal for Milicic and Marko Jaric. The deal would save the Knicks $10 million off the salary cap in 2010 in their attempt to get under to sign a prominent free agent such as LeBron James. Agent Marc Cornstein told The Post Saturday he thought a deal "could happen," but a source close to Knicks president Donnie Walsh indicated over the weekend talks appeared to be in a lengthy stalemate."
Source: Walsh under no pressure to move Randolph to Memphis
"Knicks president Donnie Walsh has not been given a deadline to make a decision whether to trade Zach Randolph to Memphis, according to an executive with knowledge of the trade talks. The Knicks have a trade proposal on the table with the Grizzlies that would see Darko Milicic and Marko Jaric dealt to New York in exchange for Randolph. The offer was proposed nearly two weeks ago. The Grizzlies have agreed to make the trade and, at this point, have no plans to pull their offer. An executive with knowledge of the talks said Friday that Walsh initiated the Randolph-to-Memphis talks with the Grizzlies recently and it's up to Walsh to sign off on the deal. A Knicks spokesman declined comment ..."
Zach expects to be in Memphis this season (and Allan Houston hopes to be a Knick again)
"Zach Randolph is bracing himself for a second trade in as many years and a person close to the Knicks forward said he believes Memphis will be his destination. The Grizzlies and Knicks have had ongoing dialogue about Randolph over the summer and Walsh, who is still looking to add some shot-blocking to the roster, has interest in 7-foot center Darko Milicic... Walsh would not confirm what Grizzlies beat writer Ronald Tillery reported on his blog last week, that the Grilzzlies want the Knicks to pick up the deferred portion of Randolph's contract. But where there's smoke, there's fire. And, as we reported today, Z-Bo is telling friends that he's expecting to be traded before training camp ..."
Randolph To Grizzlies Heating Up
"Donnie Walsh's summer-long quest to trade Zach Randolph's cap-killing contract is back on full tilt with serious talks with Memphis in a proposal that would save the Knicks $10 million in the critical LeBron James' free-agent summer of 2010. Nothing is imminent, sources said, but Walsh and the Grizzlies discussed a deal that would send Randolph to Memphis for Serbian center Darko Milicic and Marko Jaric, Europeans who have not lived up to their billings. But because Milicic's contract expires after the 2009-10 season and Jaric makes just $7.6 million in 2010, this has to intrigue Walsh, who repeatedly has said he wants to be far enough under the 2010 salary cap to sign a player such as ..."
Knicks shopping Zach Randolph to Grizzlies in possible Darko Milicic deal
"Donnie Walsh is on the verge of correcting one of Isiah Thomas' biggest financial mistakes. Walsh, the Knicks president, confirmed Saturday that the Knicks are in talks with the Memphis Grizzlies about a possible deal for Zach Randolph, the veteran power forward who doesn't fit into Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo offense. "There is no deal," Walsh said over the telephone early Saturday. "We've spoken to Memphis but there is nothing happening so far." A source close to the negotiations said that a trade is unlikely to take place before Monday. Walsh refused to comment on a report in Memphis Commercial Appeal that claims the Knicks would be required to pick up part of the deferred payments ..."
Sources: Stern angered by rookies' hotel room incident
"Details of the scandal involving Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur are beginning to emerge as the NBA and the players' association investigate the events that led to their expulsion from the league's rookie transition program Wednesday. Several sources said Thursday that NBA commissioner David Stern was so angered by the two former Kansas players' alleged involvement with marijuana and women at the program that he made the call to remove them from their rooms at the Doral Arrowwood resort in Rye Brook, N.Y. Chalmers and Arthur, who just months ago helped lead the Jayhawks to the 2008 NCAA championship, were dismissed from the four-day program after women -- a violation of the program's ..."
Sources: Chalmers, Arthur caught with marijuana at rookie camp
"March Madness heroes Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur were thrown out of the NBA's rookie transition program on Wednesday morning after being caught in their hotel room with marijuana and women, according to several sources. "They were sent home for violating program rules," NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said. Sources said Chalmers and Arthur, who starred on the Kansas Jayhawks' 2008 NCAA championship team, were also fined $20,000 apiece and could start the regular season on the suspended list. But McIntyre would not confirm that. "We're still looking into it," McIntyre said. "Once we have all the details, appropriate sanctions will be taken." The players were caught by hotel security at ..."
Olympians Ehadadi, Khahbahrami free to sign with NBA teams
"Just five days after being forbidden by the league to enter into negotiations with an NBA team, Iranian center Hamed Ehadadi has become a free agent, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday. After receiving U.S. government approval, the NBA sent out an e-mail to executives informing its 30 teams they were free to negotiate with the 7-2 Iranian Olympian, as well as one of his teammates on Iran’s national team, guard Mohammadsamad Nik Khahbahrami. Five days earlier, the league had informed its general managers they could not speak with either player, pending a license from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). The license was granted and the 23-year-old Ehadadi, who ..."
With Griz backcourt packed, Crittenton could be headed out before season starts
"Will he play in Memphis next season? That appears to be a 50-50 proposition as Crittenton, a 6-5 combo guard, is likely the odd man out in the five-way guard conundrum facing the Grizzlies. Crittenton, whom Memphis acquired in the Pau Gasol trade with the Los Angeles Lakers in February, is expecting to have another address fresh off his summer workout and the realization of where he fits in the pecking order. Reportedly, the Griz and Orlando Magic were engaged in trade talks regarding Crittenton soon after the summer league schedule. But Wallace said Monday that nothing was imminent on any front."
Orlando still plans to tinker with its roster
"The agent for Memphis' Javaris Crittenton said on Monday that the Magic have been in trade talks with the Grizzlies about the second-year point guard. NBA teams aren't allowed to comment on the availability of players affiliated with other teams. However, Smith said the Magic still could be in the market for help at point guard. "We're looking at a thousand things right now," he said. "We'll keep looking around and see what makes sense.""
Other Orlando Options At PG
"Smith said he would like to sign a third point guard. He currently is scouting players in the Las Vegas summer league. "You got to look when you have the chance; that's why I'm here," he said. Smith said he has looked at several teams in hopes to acquire a third point guard, including the Memphis Grizzlies (Kyle Lowry and Javaris Crittenton), but talks have yet to heat up. Crittenton is playing in Las Vegas. Said Crittenton's agent, Wallace Prather, "I've spoken to both GMs [Smith and Grizzlies' Chris Wallace], and there's no deal on the table or any deal pending. There's nothing I'm aware of.""
Dooling insulted by Magic contract offer
"The Orlando Magic have held serious trade talks with the Memphis Grizzlies about point guard Javaris Crittenton, proof that the Magic have abandoned any serious hopes of retaining combo guard Keyon Dooling. Dooling, Orlando’s top reserve off the bench last season, blasted the Magic today for offering him their Bi-Annual Exception, a contract that would be worth $4.2 million for two years. Dooling, who made $3.5 million last season while averaging 8.1 points and 1.8 assists, summarily rejected the offer saying he was ``insulted’’ by it.``I donâ€
