I've put a lot of effort into this subject. It comes up often and I'm going to put all the work I've done here. Along with explanations I've used, hopefully it will at least convince some why the closer is overvalued. Obviously it is not a useless role, it has some importance, but certainly there are better uses for great pitchers, as will be demonstrated.

Closer by committee is awful. Have a closer, just not your best guy.
