"Red Wings vice president Steve Yzerman spent the weekend watching practices and scrimmages at Centre Ice Arena, where the Wings are holding training camp.

That has become business as usual for him over the past three years, since he retired from playing and moved into the front office. Having accomplished pretty much everything as a player, including winning three Stanley Cups, Yzerman, 43, is now working on being successful behind the scenes - and doing so could lead him away from the team he has been with for a quarter of a century.

"I guess I would just say that I've got certain things that I want to accomplish in hockey, and that opportunity may or may not be here in Detroit," Yzerman said. "I'm really happy doing what I'm doing, and I'm enjoying working in the organization and trying to add value and help out. I've learned a ton, and I will continue to learn just by being around. But I have goals, and because our organization is deep in the management level, and our guys are successful and they're young - it's something that at some point, we're going to have sit down and discuss it.""
