The NFL invited Texans general manager Rick Smith to give a speech at the rookie symposium in Carlsbad, Calif., this month. Smith, 38, is the youngest general manager in the league. Obviously, NFL executives thought he could make his points in a manner that would hit home with the rookies, or he wouldn't have been invited.
