"The NFL is expected to rule on the looming suspension of several high-profile NFL players by Tuesday afternoon and if the league upholds four-game suspensions, the situation may still not be over.

Sources close to the players in question told FOX Sports that if the league hands down suspensions, they are considering asking for a temporary restraining order in another jurisdiction — in addition to possible lawsuits against the league as well as specific league officials in the middle of this muddy situation.

The moves would stem from testimony uncovered in closed-door hearings that at least two high-ranking league officials were aware that the product in question, Star Caps, contained a dangerous and illegal substance named Bumetanide, but failed to divulge the information to the players and NFLPA. They contend the players were placed in harms way and it could have been avoided had they known that this illegal substance was in fact present in Star Caps, a popular diuretic.

The NFL also has a policy called strict liability, saying you are responsible for what goes into your body — no questions asked.

The NFL maintains that they cannot list every supplement they test for, but players are responsible for what goes in their bodies. Because the FDA does not regulate exactly what is in supplement bottles, players are at risk. Players have been warned of water pills and diuretics by the league for the last couple of years and trainers were supposed to have placed warnings in each locker room at training camp."
