"The Ducks on Monday trimmed their roster to 22 players by assigning center Andrew Ebbett and left wing Ryan Donally to their American League affiliate, the Iowa Chops.

The 22-man active roster expected to travel for Thursday night's NHL regular-season opener at San Jose does not include left wing Brad Larsen, who will open the season on the injured-reserve list after having undergone sports-hernia surgery Friday in Philadelphia.

Defenseman Nathan McIver, whom the Ducks obtained on waivers Saturday from Vancouver, remained in British Columbia after having scored the overtime goal that produced Sunday's 4-3 victory over the Canucks. The Ducks wrapped up their exhibition campaign with a franchise-best, 6-1-1 record.

A native of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, McIver is awaiting the completion of necessary paperwork to be employed in the United States.

With the current formation of their roster, including Larsen, the Ducks would open the season with a salary-cap figure of approximately $56.07 million. The NHL limit this season is $56.7 million."
