McCarty said he plans to be on the bus Thursday when the Wings head to Traverse City for the start of training camp.

McCarty has postponed signing due to a question about bonuses (basically, a team has to absorb bonuses into this season's cap rather than defer until next season like previously possible, because the CBA may be opened next summer and thus there's no guarantee of a 2009-10 season).

McCarty also would have preferred to sign a one-way deal, but the Wings aren't going to be swayed on this point. They already have 12 forwards signed to NHL contracts, and want to give Ville Leino every chance to make the Detroit squad."
