Cleveland Browns' Brady Quinn believes his bad day of practice is behind him

"Brady Quinn hopes he got his one dog day of camp out of the way early.

In the span of about 10 snaps during team drills Friday, Quinn fell on a fumbled snap and threw three interceptions.

The first pick was a spry move by nose tackle Shaun Rogers in which he tipped the ball to himself at the line of scrimmage and hauled it in. The second was on a deep floater over the middle intended for Kevin Kasper that Brodney Pool swiped, and the third was on a screen pass to Jamal Lewis that rookie Alex Hall read and picked off in a flash.

"You just put it behind you," said Quinn. "Obviously when you're playing football, you have your good days and bad days - hopefully more good than bad. In that case, I made a bad decision on [the deep ball to Kasper] and I think on the other two interceptions, honestly, the defenders made great plays."

Quinn said Hall, the seventh-round pick out of Division II St. Augustine, either made a really nice read on the screen "or he fell into a good play."

He said Rogers' great tip and catch didn't surprise him. "Shaun is incredibly athletic and made a great play at the line of scrimmage. Those are things you try to avoid, but in the same sense, sometimes you have to take your hat off when players make good plays."

Coach Romeo Crennel said he doesn't necessarily want the QBs to take risks in practice that they wouldn't take in a game.

"I'd rather see that they read the coverage and then do what they think is best and in both of those cases what [Quinn] thought was best was to throw the ball," said Crennel. "He could have thrown a better pass on the deep one and he wasn't anticipating a rookie being able to get out underneath the screen, but you learn from those things and he'll be better as a result of it."

Quinn, working mostly with the second team, acknowledged "it's much better to learn your lessons on the practice field than the game field. It's better to get the mistakes out of the way here."

He's also glad he got the bad day out of his system on Day 3 of camp. In the three practices since then, he's been interception-free and the coaches have been happy with his progress.

"You never like to have a day like that at all," he said. "But if you're going"
