Campbell got his marching orders to return to the Army on Wednesday, just hours before he was scheduled to report to the Lions for his first NFL training camp.

Campbell, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, had hoped to combine careers as a soldier and athlete. But, instead of donning the Lions' Honolulu blue-and-silver uniform, he'll be wearing the Army's uniform of the day at least until May 2010.

Campbell, a defensive starter for most of his four seasons with Army's Black Knights, was taken by the Lions on the seventh round of the NFL draft in April. He played safety at Army but was switched to linebacker by Lions coach Rod Marinelli."
