Manchester United signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

Manager Jose Mourinho beat a number of interested parties from across the world to land the Swede’s signature.

And Ibrahimovic has explained why he rejected other offers, such as a proposed head-spinning move to China, in order to join Mourinho at Old Trafford.

“There are moments in your career when you ask yourself whether to continue or find something else,” the 34-year-old told Fabio Capello in an interview on Fox Sport Italia [football-italia].

“Manchester United are a challenge. The challenge to change the history of a club that already had a great history in the past.

“In order to raise my level, I had to come to England and prove to everyone what I could do.

“If I can win in a situation like this, it means I’ve done my job well.
