Many people believe the Yankees would be better off if Alex Rodriguez’s suspension is upheld keeping him sidelined for all of 2014 while knocking his $25 million salary off the payroll as the team tries to get below the $189 million luxury tax threshold.

Brian Cashman isn’t one of them. The Yankees general manager reiterated that thought during an appearance on ESPN Radio Sunday noting the challenge that comes with trying to replace a productive third baseman.
