Captain America is a late scratch Thursday night.
David Wright, Team USA’s hottest hitter, has sore ribs and will miss the World Baseball Classic game against the Dominican Republic, The Post’s Kevin Kernan reported on Twitter. Wright, the Mets third baseman, has seven hits and 10 RBIs in four games. He has all but carried the United States offense.
Willie Bloomquist will take Wright’s place in the lineup. Wright is headed to Port St. Lucie on Thursday night to be examined by Mets doctors. He said he still wants to compete in the WBC and wouldn’t hesitate in playing in the next installment of the WBC either.
