Mathew Dumba will soon be getting more playing time.

The Minnesota Wild assigned Dumba, the team's 2012 first-round pick, to the Canadian national junior team Wednesday in order for Dumba to play with the team during the 2014 IIHF World Junior championships in Sweden starting on Dec. 26.

Dumba, 19, has played in 13 games with Minnesota this season but has been a healthy scratch for the past seven games. He has one goal and one assists in his first NHL season after being the seventh overall pick in the 2012 draft.
