The Chicago White Sox agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract Thursday with free agent reliever Ronald Belisario.

Belisario, 30, wasn't tendered a contract Monday night by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Belisario attracted preliminary interest from the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Angels but elected to sign with the White Sox, according to an industry source.

Belisario posted a 3.97 ERA in 77 appearances with the Dodgers in 2013. Belisario has a 3.29 ERA in 273 major league appearances covering four seasons. Working with pitching coach Don Cooper played a strong role in Belisario's decision, the source said.

The deal will become official once Belisario passes a physical examination.
