Receiver Wes Welker was listed as probable on the Broncos injury report Friday and is available to play Sunday night on the road against the New England Patriots.

Interim head coach Jack Del Rio reported after Friday's practice that if there were a definite category on the injury report, a checkmark would go next to Welker's name. Welker sustained a concussion in Sunday's game against Kansas City.

Del Rio used the same explanation when there was an injury concern about quarterback Peyton Manning before that K.C. game.

"We like to have our best players available," Del Rio said. "But first and foremost we want to know that we've done the right thing by the player. He has passed all the protocol things that have to happen."

Welker didn't finish the game against the Chiefs after being diagnosed with concussion symptoms in the fourth quarter.
