Dale Weise scored at 17:08 of overtime to give the Canadiens a 5-4 win over the Lightning Wednesday night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. The win gave the Canadiens 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final series.

Back and forth: These teams were miserly during their regular-season series, but there were five lead changes, including two in the third period. Lars Eller gave Montreal its first lead when he scored at 5:10 of the third period, but Alex Killorn tied the game at 8:11. Thomas Vanek redirected a perfect pass from David Desharnais for a 4-3 Montreal lead at 11:30, but Steven Stamkos's second goal of the night tied it again at 13:27. Stamkos had an empty net after Carey Price came out to challenge Killorn and the West Island product slipped the puck to Stamkos.

Goalies by the numbers: This wasn't Price's finest moment. The Olympic gold medallist stopped 21 shots. Lindback, who is filling in for the injured Ben Bishop, had the far busier night and made 39 saves.

Stamkos delivers: Stamkos put Tampa Bay ahead 2-1 when he settled a bouncing puck and beat Price with a shot off the rush at 13:24 of the second period. Stamkos found some room outside Alexei Emelin on the right wing and he beat Price with a shot to the far post.
