Carlisle backed away from giving an assessment of his team at the All-Star break, which starts for the Mavericks after the Sacramento game.
“The break’s not here yet,” he said. “I’m not going to talk about the break until we get there. I don’t think it’s a good idea. I don’t think the basketball gods would like that.”
Briefly: Carlisle on whether the Mavericks got close to playing a full 48 minutes Monday against Atlanta: “Last night? No. No. We didn’t. We had just too many breakdowns, and the fact that we hung in and were as close as we were, we were fortunate.” … The Mavericks will scatter after the Sacramento game. The league requires that all players get at least four days without team responsibilities during the break. The Mavericks have a week off.
