After meeting with Dwight Howard and Andre Iguodala, the Golden State Warriors want to meet with another top-tier free agent: Josh Smith.

Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group reports on Sulia that the Warriors have interest in the free-agnet forward. Per Thompson’s report, however, the interest doesn’t seem mutual.

Sources said the Warriors have interest in the free agent forward – another vote of confidence for coach Mark Jackson’s ability to handle the less amenable. Smith however, doesn’t seem too interested in the Warriors, who aren’t going to jump as high as others to get him

Smith is a step below Dwight Howard on the free-agent totem pole, which included Chris Paul before he re-signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. I would put Iguodala in Smith’s class too.

The Warriors’ interest in Smith perhaps confirms one thing: they feel out of the Dwight Howard sweepstakes. During Howard’s five meetings, the Warriors were the long shot, and they still are, because obtaining him requires the Los Angeles Lakers to agree to a sign-and-trade. And of course, Golden State has to get Howard’s approval too.
