Adam Wainwright is almost to the point where he is "Waino" again, meaning that dominating righthander who won 39 games for the Cardinals in 2009-10 before losing last season to an elbow operation.

After pitching poorly in his first three starts this season, amassing an unsightly 9.88 earned run average along with three losses, Wainwright is 2-0 and 2.70 since then.

On Sunday, he probably was the best he'd been this year in reaching 103 pitches for seven innings in which he allowed seven singles and struck out seven in an 8-1 win over Houston.

The victory was Wainwright's 10th in 11 decisions against the Astros, who have averaged 1.54 earned runs per game against him.
