It's on between Dwyane Wade and Kevin Durant. Oh it's most definitely on a preseason social-media free-for-all between the NBA stars.

It started with Durant saying former Oklahoma City teammate James Harden is gaining on the Heat's Wade in terms of the shooting guards' respective places in the NBA hierarchy.

It continued with Wade responding with an Instagram rebuke

The shame of it all of course is that Durant's Thunder do not play Wade's Heat until Jan. 29 at AmericanAirlines Arena or for that matter that Wade's Heat do not play Harden's Houston Rockets until March 4.

Until then we'll always have their words.

In started in a CineSport video with Durant surprised Harden was not included in the Top 10 of a recent Sports Illustrated ranking of players.

"I think you're missing James Harden" Durant said at the 1:50 mark of the video attached to this file.

Asked which player he would remove from that Top 10 in favor of Harden Durant said "Dwyane Wade."

The Heat and Wade defeated Durant and the Thunder 4-1 in the 2012 NBA Finals.

No sooner did Durant's comments begin making the rounds then Wade responded with an Instagram post of:

"Kevin Durant said James Harden should replace me in the Top 10 . . . Note to self* Make him respect your place in history . . . again . . . "

In response at @KDTrey5 Durant posted on Twitter "Show me don't tweet me . . ."

Wade and Durant of course appeared in a Gatorade commercial last season that had each as the other's recurring nightmare.

Apparently it was an actual case of truth in advertising.
