In his time at the Vikings' organized team activities this week, Christian Ponder has found himself alongside one his predecessors as Vikings quarterback, who is serving as a guest coach: Jeff George.

George has been with the team this week to help him see if he is interested in pursuing a coaching career. George has been in the quarterback meeting room all week, Ponder said, and watched OTAs from the sidelines Wednesday.

"(It's nice for our quarterbacks) just to be able to pick his brain and to talk to him some of the things he saw as a young quarterback and what he saw as a veteran, just the maturation of his career," coach Leslie Frazier said. "He was a very good player for a long time. High draft pick. I think he can really help our players with some of his background and his knowledge as well."

Ponder said he hasn't talked much with George yet, "but he has come up to me a couple times."

"He understands the game. Obviously, he was around for a while," Ponder said. "He's got a great knowledge of the game. He's sat in the meetings and stuff with us. Just another guy that you can bounce something off of him. He's good to have around."
