Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has been left off the club’s preseason squad list as the club today departed for Asia. The club announced their preseason squad list earlier today, and Vidic was the most surprising exclusion. While it’s unclear if Vidic is suffering from an early season knock or if it’s a strategic decision by new manager David Moyes, English media outlet The Daily Star suggests that the exclusion lends weight towards a possible transfer to AC Milan.

Aside from Vidic’s absence, Asian fans attending United’s matches will miss out on a chance to see injured stars Nani, Ashley Young, and Chris Smalling. The trio were expected to miss the tour due to their injuries, unlike the surprise announcement excluding Vidic.

Fans will get a chance to see new signing Wilfried Zaha in action, though, as the tricky former Crystal Palace winger joins up with his new teammates for the first time. Wayne Rooney is joined by strike partner Danny Welbeck, with Robin van Persie set to join up with the squad for the Australian leg of their tour.
