On this road trip alone, the Mets have lost three players to injury: Jon Niese, Lucas Duda and Justin Turner. Each time this has happened, the Mets have had to dip into their talent pool in Class AAA Las Vegas to find a replacement.

Zach Lutz is the latest addition to the roster. He flew across the country to meet up with his new teammates in Philadelphia. The logistics are not difficult, but the long flight path across time zones can be taxing.

"There's no question that's an issue for the players who are coming," manager Terry Collins said before the Mets' 8-0 win over the Phillies. "One of the benefits about being in Vegas, there's direct flights all the time. … That said, it's still very, very difficult to fly that length of time. Some guys sleep, some guys don't."

The Mets were forced into partnering with Las Vegas this past off-season when Buffalo left to become Toronto's Class AAA affiliate.
