Joe Mauer knew he was going to get hit by Rickie Weeks when the Milwaukee Brewers second baseman tried to score from third on Sunday, June 17, but he didn't expect to take a knee to the thigh.

Mauer won the matchup, tagging Weeks out in a 5-4, 15-inning victory at Target Field, but ultimately had to leave the game because of a quadriceps injury. Mauer took the throw from third baseman Trevor Plouffe and moved his body in front of the plate before getting Weeks with a two-handed tag. Weeks' left knee got the catcher on the outside of the right thigh.

"He was coming hard; I kind of expected that," said Mauer. "But I didn't expect him to be that far in."
