Paul Pierce has been selected to the Eastern Conference All-Star team, and even though the game honors individual excellence, the Celtics' slow start is a key reason he is going to Orlando, Fla., alone.
Pierce is making his 10th All-Star appearance, while Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen will not add to their totals of 14 and 10, respectively. Rajon Rondo has gone twice, and he could be an injury replacement this year if one is needed.
Rondo came into last night's game against the Lakers second in the NBA in assists behind Steve Nash, but he missed eight games with a sprained right wrist.
