Troy Tulowitzki's lingering injury went from mystery to worse Wednesday when the Colorado Rockies said he will need surgery to repair a left groin issue.

Tulowitzki will undergo arthroscopic surgery Thursday morning in Philadelphia to remove scar tissue on a nerve, manager Jim Tracy said.

There is no timetable for Tulowitzki's return, the team said. But conservative estimates put Tulowitzki's recovery time at six weeks, meaning he's not likely to return to the Rockies lineup until sometime in August.
