The Celtics unleashed their "B" team last night against the Charlotte Bobcats after leaving Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce back at the team hotel in New York.

It may not have been an optimal decision for the green-clad fans who showed up at Time Warner Cable Arena — a number that rivaled the pro-Celtics horde on hand for the team's victory against the Nets the previous night in Newark, N.J. — but as far as coach Doc Rivers is concerned, the schedule demands it.

Pierce originally was going to play against the Bobcats but jammed his left toe Saturday night. Garnett was expected to rest all along.
