The Indians on Monday placed closer Chris Perez on the 15-day disabled list and recalled left-hander Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus.

Perez left Sunday's game in Boston in the ninth inning due to right shoulder soreness. It marks his first career trip to the DL. He is 2-1 with a 4.32 ERA in 17 relief appearances this year.

He is expected to have an MRI and exam on Monday in Cleveland.

Hagadone is making his third appearance with the Major League club and has pitched in 13 relief outings (10 innings), accruing a 7.20 ERA. He has a 1-1 record and a 2.00 ERA with Columbus. He is in Cincinnati for Monday's game.
