The Trail Blazers signed No. 10 overall pick C.J. McCollum, and he was set to start practicing with the team Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4 guard out of Lehigh can earn about $8.5 million in his four-year deal, under the NBA's salary scale.

"The biggest thing coming out of college is that you want to go where you're wanted," McCollum, 21, said at his introductory news conference Monday. "You don't want to be somebody's second option or third option, looking at him, like, 'Oh, he's there, let's take him.' You want to be like, 'That's the guy!' I feel like this is a situation where they wanted me and I wanted them and it was mutual love."

McCollum averaged 23.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 12 games last season before breaking his foot. He was medically cleared to play in April.
