Injured Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul says he isn’t close to resuming skating, putting in jeopardy his initial projected return to action next month.
Lupul was vague when asked by SportsNet whether there was still a possibility he would return by mid-March as originally thought. But he said “no” when asked if he would soon resume skating.
“It’s just kind of wait-and-see and keep working every day and make sure I’m in shape and ready to go whenever I do get cleared,” Lupul told the network while he and the rest of his teammates were at the Hospital for Sick Children on Tuesday.
Lupul suffered a fractured arm Jan. 23 when he was hit by teammate Dion Phaneuf’s shot while standing in front of the Pittsburgh net. Lupul was originally expected to be out six weeks.
