San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker today was named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Jan. 21, through Sunday, Jan. 27. This is Parker's eighth time earning Western Conference Player of the Week honors. Cleveland's Kyrie Irving was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
Parker averaged a team-high 24.5 points and 9.5 assists while shooting .606 (40-66) from the field as the Spurs went 4-0 for the week. He scored 20-or-more points in all four games, including a 31-point (13-17 FG, 5-6 FT) effort in a 108-99 victory over Phoenix on Jan. 26. Parker registered two double-doubles finishing with 24 points and 13 assists vs. New Orleans on Jan. 23, followed by a 23-point, 10-assist outing at Dallas on Jan. 25.
