After being sidelined for more than two months with back problems, veteran forward Todd Bertuzzi might be returning in time to try and help the Detroit Red Wings make the NHL playoffs.

Bertuzzi, who hasn't played since Feb. 7, will be evaluated after Wednesday morning's pregame skate and could possibly be back in the lineup when the Red Wings host the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings at Joe Louis Arena.

"He's close," general manager Ken Holland told MLive.com in a text message. "Will discuss after practice if he's possible."

Bertuzzi, who has played in just seven games this season, pinched a nerve his back that has affected the strength in his right leg. He's been skating in practice but has yet to be cleared to return to the lineup.
