Kenny Britt might feel like throwing a tantrum, but he promises he won’t, no matter how frustrated he is with a lack of playing time.

“I am definitely surprised with me not playing. I really don’t know the reason, and I don’t ask the reason why, I just go out there and do my job,” the Titans wide receiver said on Wednesday. “Since I have been benched I have been working 10 times harder … to show what I can do.

“It is definitely frustrating, but I try not to show it. I don’t want to show it because it is not about me. But I can promise you I am definitely going to keep fighting until the end.”

Britt lost his place in the starting lineup earlier this season, and lately he’s rarely been on the field.

His most recent catch was in the Oct. 20 loss to the 49ers. In the past three games combined, he was targeted twice. He was on the field for 13 snaps against the Colts, nine against the Jaguars and 11 against the Rams.

The Titans (4-6) have lost five of their past six games going into Sunday’s meeting with the Raiders (4-6) in Oakland.

“You see us losing close games, and it eats at you that you’re on the sideline and can’t do anything to help. Me being a competitor, I want to be out there,” Britt said. “I am not sure why (I’m not playing). There were times they’d tell me I was going to play and I don’t see it, but I’ll keep working hard until my number is called.”

Inconsistency and dropped passes resulted in Britt’s demotion. Coach Mike Munchak, meanwhile, continued to rave about how well the fifth-year pro was practicing.

Rookie Justin Hunter has seen more playing time in recent weeks.

“When I get mad, I try and keep it to myself. You can ask my wife about that,” Britt said. “She asks me what’s going on at work and she knows I am frustrated and don’t talk about it, but I wake up in the morning with a smile on my face. There are guys that make a stink, but I wasn’t built that way. I won’t do that.”

A first-round pick in 2009, Britt knows he could be heading into his final games as a Titan. He entered the season with 146 career catches for 2,354 yards and 19 touchdowns. This year he has eight catches for 67 yards.
