Prince Fielder's recent homers have meant a lot.

Entering Tuesday, Fielder's last five homers had tied the score or put the Tigers ahead:

• On Aug. 6 against the Yankees, he hit a bases-empty homer off Ivan Nova in the second to put the Tigers ahead.

• On Aug. 10 at Texas, he came up with two runners aboard, two out and the Tigers down a run in the sixth. He launched a three-run homer to put the Tigers ahead to stay.

• Fielder put on quite a show Aug. 17 against Baltimore at Comerica Park. In the sixth, he launched a massive homer over the back wall in right-center. That two-run blow tied the score at 2.
