The Mets are closing in on a deal to add another relief pitcher to their bullpen, according to Jon Heyman. Heyman has the Mets and Brandon Lyon closing in on an agreement, although he isn't reporting any sort of dollars or length of the deal.

Lyon pitched to a very respectable 3.10 ERA for the Astros and Blue Jays in 2012, and did so with some excellent looking peripherals. He struck out 9.3 batters per 9 innings, while walking just 2.95. He's a flyball pitcher, but as long as his HR/FB rate stays around the 6.8% mark he hit last year, he ought to be a solid addition to the Mets pen. Lyon doesn't have a noticeable platoon split, so he should be an excellent option to pitch an entire inning late in games.
