Luis Silva’s days at Toronto FC came to an end on Tuesday.

The Canadian MLS club traded the midfielder to D.C. for allocation money.

Silva, 24, was originally selected fourth overall by TFC in the 2012 MLS Entry Draft. He made 54 appearances for Toronto in MLS, CONCACAF Champions League, and the Amway Canadian Championship.

He scored seven goals in MLS.

“Luis Silva is a fine player and an outstanding young man and this was a tough decision. But we are bringing in new attacking talent this window and Luis’ playing time would likely suffer,” TFC president and GM Kevin Payne said in a news release.

“This move helps give us more flexibility now and for the future.
