When OF Shin-Soo Choo thought twice about going to second on a potential double in the seventh inning Friday, Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington decided he’d best go to the clubouse instead.

Choo reported a bit of renewed ankle soreness in his sprained left ankle after taking the turn at first. Though he wanted to remain in the Rangers’ eventual 5-2 win, Washington gave him the rest of the night off to get treatment.

“We will re-evaluate him Saturday, but we just didn’t want to take any chances,” Washington said. “He felt a little something, but he wanted to stay in the game. We thought it better not to take any chances.”
