Manti Te’o is quickly becoming a fan favorite in San Diego and for all the speculation that Te’o would be teased by his teammates over the Lennay Kekua hoax he seems well on his way to becoming a locker room leader as well. Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego tells a heartwarming story of how Te’o has already earned the trust of one teammate rookie offensive lineman DJ Fluker by teaching the big man how to swim.

At the age of four Fluker tried to swim in a pool but sank to the bottom and was too afraid to try again. When Te’o and Fluker were together for the NFL Rookie Symposium the former Notre Dame star helped his new teammate overcome his fear of drowning teaching Fluker to swim in the same way Te’o's father had once taught him.
