Less than a week after letting him go, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky on Monday, according to a source with knowledge of the transaction.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.

An eight-year veteran out of Connecticut, Orlovsky was the backup to starter Josh Freeman last season. Orlovsky appeared in just one game, a 41-0 loss to the Saints, in which he completed four of seven passes for 51 yards and no touchdowns.

Orlovsky, 29, originally came to the Bucs a year ago as free agent when he signed a two-year, $2.5 million contract.
