His longest goal drought since the 2010-11 season has Milan Lucic searching for the mentality that once made him a 30-goal scorer in the NHL.
It would help if he could get more shots on net.
“I’ve just got to get them through. I think . . . I’ve gotten a bunch of them blocked and all that type of stuff,” Lucic said after practice yesterday at Ristuccia Arena. “Also, I’m overpassing a little bit too much and stuff like that. I think a shoot-first mentality is something that I had the last two years. And it’s something that I definitely need to get back to. As of right now, that’s where I’m at as far as that goes.”
Lucic has gone 10 games without a goal, after his longest drought last season was eight games. In 2010-11 he set a career high with 30 goals, but from Dec. 18, 2010 to Jan. 17, 2011, he actually didn’t light the lamp for a dozen games.
