Gregg Popovich has stated his firm belief that Spurs All-Star point guard Tony Parker “should be in every conversation for any award that’s going to be given. There’s a group of guys, but he should be in that group.”
Of course, the Most Valuable Player award encompasses the entirety of a player’s game, and Parker last season finished fifth in official voting. He ranks somewhere in the top five in most of the ongoing rankings of MVP candidates.
