Loui Eriksson scored midway through the second period to give the Stars a 1-0 lead Tuesday night at Joe Louis Arena, and Dallas was on its way to its first game of the season to be decided by more than one goal.
Unfortunately for the Stars, the Red Wings had four unanswered goals to tilt the decision decidedly in Detroit's favor.
Henrik Zetterberg scored on a two-man advantage in the final minute of the second period to give the Red Wings a 2-1 lead, and Damien Brunner and Valtteri Filppula scored 23 seconds apart in the third. Filppula scored two goals, both off nifty passes from Pavel Datsyuk.
All six of Dallas' previous games this season were decided by one goal, with the Stars winning two.
Stars strike first, but Red Wings strike back repeatedly for 4-1 win
