The sight of Tampa Bay coming to town must torment Toronto fans these days.

Not because the Lightning have one more Stanley Cup title in the past 44 years than the original-six Maple Leafs, but the envy it inspires when Tampa Bay visits with native son Steven Stamkos, the reigning No. 1 star of the week in the NHL after a six-goal week.

Growing up in the Toronto suburb of Markham, Stamkos adorned the walls of his preadolescent room with the blue and white of the Leafs. But as he rose to stardom playing for Sarnia in the junior ranks and his 2008 draft year came around, it became clear there would be no homecoming when the Lightning selected Stamkos with the first overall pick.

Stamkos, 21, has risen to superstardom with Tampa Bay.
