Third baseman Brent Morel handled his two grounders flawlessly Saturday in his first start at shortstop, but it appears he will have to do more convincing for the White Sox to consider him as a backup infielder.

"It's a little work in progress with him at short," said manager Robin Ventura, who indicated Morel would get another shot at short.

The Sox infield featured third baseman Conor Gillaspie starting at first. Gillaspie played flawlessly and ripped his second home run of the spring in a 4-0 victory over the Reds.

The Sox have four more weeks to set their opening day roster and Ventura said results play a role in their decisions.
