The board of governors has ratified the tentative agreement reached Sunday between the NHL and NHLPA, a source confirmed to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Although the exact tally is not immediately known, the 30 governors on hand for the league's board of governors meeting voted affirmatively to pass, completing one half of ratification.

Now, all that is needed for the deal to become official is for the players to vote, which is expected to be completed by Friday or Saturday.
