When the Orioles scheduled Jake Arrieta to pitch in a minor league game on Tuesday, it was easy to conclude that he would be their fifth starter.

After all, the Orioles are playing Minnesota on Tuesday and they’ll be playing the Twins in the fifth game of the season.

Manager Buck Showalter says that he hasn’t set the rotation even though it looks as if he’s chosen his five. Arrieta has thrown 14 2/3 scoreless innings in his last three outings.

“We haven’t gotten there yet,” Showalter said. “I’m not precluding him from being in the mix.”
