Predators captain Shea Weber was named one of three finalists for the Norris Trophy on Thursday.
Weber was also a finalist last season for the trophy — given to the NHL's top defenseman — but finished second to Detroit veteran Nicklas Lidstrom.
The other finalists this year are Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins and Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators.
"It's nice, obviously. Hopefully, now we can just focus on the task at hand and that's Phoenix," Weber said after practice at Centennial Sportsplex. "It's obviously a team nomination. Without them we wouldn't be able to get recognition, it's just one of those things. It goes hand in hand with how the team's successful."
The Predators' David Poile recently was named a finalist for General Manager of the Year, and goalie Pekka Rinne was named a finalist for the Vezina Trophy. Winners will be announced at the NHL Awards show in Las Vegas on June 20.
The Norris winner is selected by a poll of hockey writers.
Weber tied for the league lead among defensemen with 19 goals during the regular season, and his career-best 49 points tied for sixth in the league. His 10 power-play goals led all blueliners.
