A lack of first basemen isn't the Marlins' problem. They have four on their 40-man roster. The monkey wrench is that the top three guys on the depth chart are hurt.

A few hours after the Marlins announced Casey Kotchman (hamstring) had joined Logan Morrison (knee) and Joe Mahoney (oblique) on the disabled list Friday, infield coach Perry Hill ran a clinic on playing first base. During early field work, Hill instructed Chris Valaika, Chris Coghlan, Austin Kearns and Miguel Olivo.
