Former Bull Scottie Pippen turned himself over to police to be questioned about his involvement in a fight outside of a tony Malibu sushi restaurant over the weekend that sent a man to the hospital, officials said.

Pippen had been at the Nobu Malibu restaurant on the Pacific Coast Highway when a fight broke out between him and the man around 6:30 p.m., said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County sheriff's office.

"He came in to be interviewed, he's been cooperative," said Whitmore.

Witnesses told police that Pippen got into an argument with the man in the parking lot of the restaurant near a valet stand, Whitmore said.

"That argument led to an altercation," Whitmore said. "Our detectives are investigating this right now."

Pippen left the restaurant after the fight, Whitmore said. The other person was taken to a hospital, Whitmore said. He did not know the man's age or condition.

"Charges could follow, we don't know," he said. "We have to investigate and check with all the witnesses and find out exactly what happened."
